Job Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) provides expert clinical guidance in a specialized field and coordinates patient care quality initiatives. Responsibilities include:
- Providing service to patients in acute, short, and long-term care settings.
- Obtaining thorough medical histories and performing examinations to determine patient needs.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to analyze and interpret patient information for diagnosis.
- Formulating treatment plans and prescribing medications as legally authorized.
- Maintaining complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans.
- Consulting with or referring patients to specialists when necessary.
- Providing health information to promote wellness and prevent disease.
- Conducting research into areas of specialty to improve patient care.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Baccalaureate degree (Associate’s or Nursing Degree if training prior to 1994).
- Successful completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
- Demonstrated current competence in providing care for at least 30 patients in the past twelve months or completion of an ARC-PA approved program within the last twelve months.
- Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances.
